Gaviscon Infant

For the treatment of gastric regurgitation, gastro-oesophageal reflux, and reflux associated with hiatus hernia in infants and young children.

Dose: Infants under 10lb/4.5kg: One dose with or after each feed, depending on whether the child is being breast or bottle fed. Infants over 10lb/4.5kg: Two doses. Young children: Two doses after each meal. Treatment should not be administered more than six times in 24 hours. For breastfed infants, mix powder with cooled boiled water to a smooth paste, and give after each feed using a spoon or feeding bottle. For bottle fed infants, one dose should be mixed with at least 4 fl oz of each feed in a bottle and shaken well.

Who Can Use It:

Caution: Not to be used in premature infants or infants under 1 yr except under medical supervision. Instructions should be followed exactly. Mix immediately before use. The patient's condition should be reviewed seven days after initiating treatment, or earlier if symptoms worsen. Contraindicated in intestinal obstruction and established diarrhoea, known or suspected renal impairment.

Possible Side Effects: Swelling of the stomach.
